University of Alberta - Augustana student-athletes give their all to be a Viking through their dedicated service to sport and academics. They sacrifice a lot to train, compete and study to be the best they can be. Your gift will have an immediate and direct impact on our student-athletes through the Support the Vikings Sport program. Our University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings have always looked to be well-rounded individuals who are successful in all aspects of their lives, priding themselves on a strong, conscientious work ethic both on and off the playing surface. Your support gives them the assist they need so their sacrifices and commitment lead to them reaching their fullest potential by removing financial barriers for Vikings teams.
On average, student-athletes spend nearly 40-hours per week studying, training, competing and traveling making it difficult to fit in time for a job to cover expense related to strength & conditioning, proper nutrition, mental skills, scholarships and other resources required for a competitive edge in high-performance post-secondary sport.

Support the Vikings Sport FAQ's
- Is there a minimum donation amount to be eligible for a tax receipt?
No there is no minimum amount. Any amount you can give greatly impacts our student-athletes.
- What do I receive as a donor?
The University of Alberta is a Charitable Organization, as such Charitable Gifts made to any University of Alberta Fund including the Support the Vikings Sport Fund is defined as a voluntary transfer of property (in this case monetary) without valuable consideration to the donor. With all Charitable Gifts, the donor receives a tax receipt from the University of Alberta for the amount of donation.
- I didn't get/lost my tax receipt, how can I get a new one?
The original tax receipt is sent via email within two weeks after the donation is made, but it can end up in people's junk mail. We can easily get you a duplicate tax receipt within a couple days. For help contact Dave Ritz / ritz@ualberta.ca / 780-679-1182
- Are there other ways to give instead of an online credit card transaction?

- I made a mistake on which team the donation is in support of, how do I change that?

- Will the money I donate go directly to the student-athlete?
No, a donor can direct their gift to a specific team but not to a specific student-athlete, as per CRA regulations. Donors can ‘associate’ their donation ‘in support of’ an individual student- athlete, for fundraising goal purposes. However all donations go directly to the team to use as per the Support the Vikings Sport Fund Terms. All donations are tracked by the University of Alberta - Augustana advancement team and Vikings Athletics administrative staff.
- I forgot to indicate that I want my gift to remain anonymous, how can I do that?

- Can I give Monthly?
YES! Monthly contributions can be made through your bank or credit card. You can change the amount or cancel your gift at any time. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt for your gift with receipts mailed once a year in February for your donations from the previous tax year.
- How do I cancel my monthly donation?

- FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES: Can I use my credit card for a donation and have the tax receipt in the name of the person who gave me the cash?
YES! We just require an email from the true donor to be sent to Dave Ritz / ritz@ualberta.ca indicating their donation was made in cash to you. They need to specify the date they made the donation, their full name for the tax receipt, the amount of the donation.
