The University of Alberta Augustana Men’s Volleyball Team delivered an outstanding performance this past weekend, triumphing over the defending CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Champions, the NAIT Ooks, in a thrilling weekend sweep.
Devon Nazarchuk was a standout, amassing an impressive 27 kills, 7 digs, 2 blocks, and 4 aces over 8 sets. His exceptional play earned him Player of the Game in Saturday’s straight-set victory against NAIT. Currently, Nazarchuk ranks 8th in the league for total kills this season with 112 and leads his team in kills per set.
“Devon brought incredible energy to the game,” said teammate Joel Smith. “His smart play, especially his ability to adjust his shots around the block, was key. Devon’s positive and lighthearted demeanor on the court helped us stay focused and composed, turning potential pressure into confidence. His energy was a crucial factor in our weekend victory.”
The Vikings now set their sights on the upcoming January 24-25 matchup against the 6th place North, TKU Eagles, aiming to climb the standings and secure a spot at the February Championships at Lakeland College.
