Camrose, AB - The 2024 ACAC Curling season kicked off this past weekend with the Fall Regionals taking place at the Rose City Curling Club, hosted by the U of A - Augustana Vikings. The three day draw featured 16 teams within the Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed divisions.

Over the weekend, all divisions proved to be quite evenly contested with only the Women’s rink out of Red Deer remaining undefeated in round robin play with a record of 5-0. Right behind the Queens, last year’s national finalists Sait Trojans and Concordia Thunder each had successful weekends with the Trojans finishing 4-1 and the Thunder 3-2.

The ACAC Men’s curling division finds a three way tie at the top of the standings with the Sait Trojans, Red Deer Kings, and Lakeland Rustlers all ending the weekend with 3 wins and 1 loss. With the top 4 rinks earning their way to the ACAC Championships, the Nait Ooks and Augustana Vikings will have added pressure for the Winter Regionals with the Ooks finishing 1-3 and the Vikings 0-4 after the Fall draw.

In the mixed division both Red Deer Polytechnic and the Sait Trojans ended the weekend with a record of 3-1 with Red Deer narrowly edging the Trojans in their game by a score of 4-3 in one of the featured contests of the draw. Both the Lakeland Rustlers and Concordia Thunder found themselves with an even 2-2 record and the Portage Voyageurs finishing 0-4.

The Winter Regional will be hosted by the Concordia Thunder at the Thistle Curling Club January 17th - 19th. The ACAC Conference Championships will take place at the Red Deer Curling Club February 7th - 9th, hosted by the Kings and Queens.
