Tansi/Hello! My name is Lauren Cardinal, and I’m thrilled to step into the role of Head Coach for our Women’s Basketball program here at Augustana. You might remember me from my time on the court, proudly wearing the red, white, and black from 2020 to 2023, where I led our team to a provincial silver medal and a national berth in Hamilton. After earning my BA in Physical Education, I served as an assistant coach during the 2023-2024 season and stayed active as an alumni member of the UofA Augustana Round Dance Committee.
My recent work with the Indigenous Sport Council Alberta allowed me to facilitate sports and cultural programs across Alberta, and I’m also trained in delivering the Aboriginal Coaching Module through the Coaching Association of Canada. As a proud member of the Little Red River Cree Nation, located on Treaty 8 near Wood Buffalo National Park, I’m eager to bring my cultural heritage and experience to our program. My goal is to ensure we remain strong contenders in the ACAC while also developing well-rounded individuals who excel both on the court, in the classroom, and in our community. I’m committed to fostering an environment where each player can thrive, and I look forward to working with all of you as we pursue excellence together.
