Vikings Men’s Volleyball looks to start the season on attack

Vikings Men's Volleyball is set to take to the court for their first ACAC season action since February 2020 (629 days) as they take on the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves tonight in Grande Prairie before heading home to host the Wolves Sunday night at Augustana Gym at 6:00 PM MT.

This weekend will mark the first for new head coach Devin Varga who took over the team in September 2020. Varga was a member of the ACAC Championship Vikings Men's Volleyball team that took home gold in 2015.

The Vikings will play 16 games over the course of the season, hosting eight games at Augustana Gym.

You can catch all Vikings regular-season action on ACAC TV or you can request home game tickets* at govikings.ca

Looking Back

The Vikings are hoping to use the long pandemic hiatus to their advantage after a 5-19 record during the 2019-20 season and missing the playoffs. The Vikings last win came on February 8th, defeating the Lakeland Rustlers 3-1.

Players to Watch

Outside hitter Evan Richard will be returning for his third year as a Viking. Richard finished the 2029-20 season with 277 kills, the third most on the team and most for all returning players.

Calder Thompson will be returning for his second season as a Vikings setter. Thompson finished with a team-leading 377 assists while adding 115 digs.

Joining the Vikings for his rookie season is Joel Smith. The young libero from Edmonton, Alberta will be looking to cycle infrequently for the Vikings and make an impact in his first season in the ACAC.
