Leading the Vikings over the Trojans in a tail as old as time, Jack Hamly was instrumental in the Viking's 2-1 series win over the weekend with four goals and two assists.

In the team's opening series loss, Hamly tailed one goal and two assists, before following it up the next night with the game-opening goal in front of a home crowd.

Needing a third and deciding game, the Vikings would find themselves trailing 2-0 with less than three minutes on the clock. Hamly's late-game heroics and the Viking's relentlessness gave them the 3-2 overtime series win. With time ticking down, a failed clearance from the Trojans landed on Hamly's stick of a shot for the top of the circle that would find its way in with 1:53 remaining. However, it was his second goal of the afternoon that would earn him Athlete of the Week honours, picking up the game-tying goal, jumping on the loose puck in the slot to force overtime. The Vikings would go on to win thanks to a tip in front from Jake Gudjonson.

Hamly and the Vikings will face their central Alberta rivals, the RDP Kings this weekend in another best-of-three series starting Friday at 7 PM MST in Red Deer before returning home for Game 2 at Encana Arena for a 6 PM MST puck-drop.
