The Augustana Vikings are hosting this year's ACAC Curling Conference Championships, from Feb. 16-18. We'll post daily updates with results and photos to keep fans up-to-date on how teams are doing. 

The ACAC Curling Conference championship kicked into gear Friday in Camrose, Alberta at the Rose City Curling Club. The top four teams from the standings determined at the Fall and Winter regionals will compete for top place and the coveted ACAC banners.

The pool consists of 12 teams from six different schools: Concordia (men and women), NAIT (men, women, and mixed), Red Deer (men, women, and mixed), MacEwan (men and mixed), Portage (mixed) and host Augustana (men).

Men's Division – Day 1

After a hard fought first day of curling, the Red Deer Kings emerged as the front-runners with a 2-0 record. With big wins and tight losses, Augustana and Concordia came in tied for second and will battle it out tomorrow for a spot in the 1-2 playoff. The NAIT Ooks lost a heartbreaker to Concordia in extras. Look for them to rebound tomorrow.

• Augustana Vikings defeat Concordia Thunder 7-4

• RDC Kings defeat NAIT Ooks 8-2

Draw #2:

• RDC Kings defeat Augustana Vikings 3-1

• Concordia Thunder defeat Nait Ooks 7-6

Standings: 

Women's Division – Day 1

The RDC Queens owned the throne in day one. With two blowout wins, they look like the team to beat so far. MacEwan and NAIT both picked up a win and a loss and will look to build off those wins tomorrow. Concordia was just barely edged by the Griffins in a high scoring affair. They will be searching for their first win tomorrow.

• RDC Queens defeat NAIT Ooks 7-3

• MacEwan Griffins defeat Concordia Thunder 9-8

Draw #2: 

• RDC Queens defeat Concordia Thunder 6-1

• NAIT Ooks defeat MacEwan Griffins 8-5

 Standings:

Mixed Division – Day 1

Lucky number seven for the MacEwan Griffins as they put up seven points in both games to charge out in front with a  record of 2-0. Both NAIT and RDC are hoping for a big day two and a chance to play in the 1-2 playoff with records of 1-1. Portage battled hard but were not able to close out NAIT in the second draw as the Ooks put up 5 in the last two ends for a stunning comeback win.

• Red Deer College defeats NAIT Ooks 11-3

• MacEwan Griffins defeat Portage Voyageurs 7-4

Draw #2:

• NAIT Ooks defeat Portage Voyageurs 6-5

• MacEwan Griffins defeat RDC 7-1
