As the weekend approaches, Vikings Curling has been preparing for an intense weekend of competition. Fall Regionals are November 23-25 in Red Deer at the Pidherney Curling Centre which is the first bonspiel of the season. The Women's team is opening the weekend at 5:30 pm on Friday against Olds College. Later Friday evening, both the mixed team and the men's team play at 8:30 pm heading up their games against Lakeland College. During the weekend as a whole, the Vikings will play a total of 17 games, with the Men's and Women's teams playing in six games and the Mixed Team competing in five. The return of the Mixed Team this season is great news for the curling program.
The curling team is happy to announce a new member of our coaching staff, Andrew McIntosh. Coach McIntosh is joining the curling team as the Head Coach. He is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has recently moved out to landlocked Alberta allowing him the opportunity to coach the Augustana curling teams. McIntosh has coached many different sports teams such as football and rugby. This is the first of many seasons for Coach McIntosh and he looks forward to coaching curling for the first time at the ACAC level. The team is excited to venture on this journey, along with Steve Lindberg who is back with the Vikings for another season as Assistant Coach.
