Day 1 Report: Vikings at CCAA Golf National Championship

The morning started out with a blustery island breeze. The echoes of bagpipes still in the air as Braden Clarkson set the tone by conquering the winds striping his drive down middle of the fairway. This boosted the confidence of the team as they followed suit. And with that they were on their way in round one of the CCAA Golf National Championship at Fox Meadow Golf Club in Charlottetown, PEI.

Playing under tough and changing conditions the players did all they could to conquer the course. Seasoned veterans Chase Martin and Michael Harrison lead the squad each carding four over 76's. They were followed by Braden Clarkson at 78, Darian Geddes at 84 and team rookie, Colton Leslie, battled some early nerves to card an 87.

Coaches Bill Penny and Braxton Fox were happy with the start but know there is room for improve. "We feel each player can improve on today's performance." Said Penny "If each guy goes out and shaves a couple of shots off of today's scores we'll be in good shape. There's still two rounds to go."

It is an early start tomorrow as the tee times flip and Michael Harrison leads the team out at 8:35 Thursday morning.

Live scoring and broadcasts of the 1st and 10th tees and the 18th green can be seen at the following links:
