Day 2 Report: Vikings at CCAA Golf National Championship

As the local hospitality shone through, so did the sunshine. The winds were much lighter and the team was ready to improve on yesterday's scores.

It was an early start for the team on Day 2 of the CCAA Golf Nationals and the temperature was on the cool side at 8:35. Michael Harrison was the first off the tee and heated things up early as he scorched the front nine in one under par and carded a 76 when the final tally came in. Rookie Colton Leslie showed no signs of yesterday's opening round jitters and followed up Harrison's 76 with a 76 of his own. A strong outing for the first year Viking. Darion Geddes carded an 80, a four shot improvement.  Chase Martin 81 and Braden Clarkson with a controversial 80, as it took some time to ensure an on-course ruling was correct, will both be looking to get back to their round one form on Friday.

Following the round it was off to the North Shore for a little practice. Said Coach Bill Penny, "Some of those greens are pretty small and we needed a bit of a confidence booster. I wanted to fire the guys up a little so bet them all they couldn't hit the ocean if they tried. By golly, with enough practice we hit it almost every time!"

With practice over and confidence at an all-time high it was time to experience the Island lifestyle. The team headed down to the waterfront of Charlottetown for some team bonding and a lobster dinner. It was a solid second day with a lot to build on for Friday.
