Snowy Vikings Golf season underway
The Augustana Golf team began their season at Lac la Biche Golf Club on September 15 and 16, in a tournament hosted by the Portage College Voyageurs. The squad battled freezing temperatures and extremely wet conditions on a very challenging course set-up during a weekend that saw scores soar above par. The Men's team was led by 4th year golfer Michael Harrison, with scores of 75-74 for a two-day total of +5, which claimed the overall men's individual title for the opening event of the ACAC golf season. Grizzled veteran player, Braden Clarkson, scored 88-91 (+35) to finish in a tie for 22nd. 1st year golfer, Patrick Frose, threw down scintillating scores of 99-93 (+48) to finish in 34th alone. Jean-Sebastian Rioux battled early nerves on his way to scores of 101-95 (+52) in his first event with the squad, placing him in a tie for 35th. Bringing up the rear was 1st year golfer Blake Feth, who fought a pesky case of the hooks all weekend long, scraping his way to scores of 101-96 (+53) which placed him in a tie for 37th. On a weekend that saw many teams struggle, the Augustana men placed 6th. On the women's side, 1st year golfer Jayden Bauer, fired scores of 93-103 (+52) to finish in a share of 8th in the women's individual contest.

Due to heavy snowfall, the second event of the fall that was to be hosted by Concordia University on September 22-23 at Mill Woods Golf Course was cancelled. The Vikings Golf team hopes to bounce back this coming weekend as they travel to Red Deer for the Conference Championship hosted by Red Deer College at Alberta Springs Golf Course.
