University of Alberta - Augustana Campus Viking’s Athlete, Michael Harrison, qualified for his 5th consecutive CCAA National Golf Championship and is in Sainte-Victoire de Sorel, Quebec for the National Tournament starting on October 14th-18th.
Harrison completes his fifth and final golfing season with Augustana with a second place position after competing in the 2019 ACAC Golf Championships held at Coal Creek Golf Resort on September 29th. He played very well over the chilly three day tournament finishing with a total of +7. Throughout his final season at Augustana, Harrison has had phenomenal results; from leading in the top two positions in both Northern and Southern Regionals to placing second in ACAC Championships and now prepares to compete for his 5th National Championship in Quebec. Vikings Golf Coach Bill Penny states, “In the past 5 seasons of having Michael as a part of our team, he has proven to be not only our number one player on the roster, but more importantly, a true ambassador for Augustana. He is an individual that upholds outstanding leadership qualities which has contributed in leading our team to Gold, Silver and Bronze medals throughout our previous ACAC Golf Championships. Michael has been Player of the Year twice in the Men’s Individual Category and has revived three CCAA All-Canadian Awards throughout his golfing career at Augustana”.
This year, Michael is hopeful of finishing in the top five after having finished sixth placed in last year's National Championship. Coach Penny concludes, “Michael will have a strong showing and will not be surprised if he comes out on top. Wherever he finishes, Michael Harrison will be remembered for not only his golfing skills, but also for his outstanding scholastic achievements. It has been a true highlife in my professional career to have been associated with Michael's development and success.”
