Vikings lose on the road to Wolves

The GPRC Wolves hosted the Augustana Vikings in their Season Home Opener. The first game in over 20 months, it was an exciting evening. We opened the night with a land acknowledgment, a prayer from GPRC Elder Teresea Gladue, and the singing of O'Canada in Cree.

The first 10 minutes was back and forth between both teams. Wolves pulled ahead to make the score 19:14 to end the first quarter. #9 Van Kozak for the Wolves had 3 points.

The second quarter started with a turnover from the Vikings. The Wolves returned with a turnover. The first point on the board was a free throw from #11 Nicholas Harder of the Vikings. Bruce Beddoe from the Wolves hits the layup and the Wolves pull ahead 21:15. The Wolves continued to put points on the board and ended the first half 33:24. #20 Manny Iloka for the Wolves had 4 points.

The Vikings showed their presence in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Wolves in the first 5 minutes 13:10. GPRC coach calls a timeout. #13 Abdul Al-tamimi scores 2 points out of the timeout. Score at the end of the 3rd 59:54 for the Wolves.

#7 John Kaweesi for the Wolves drains a big 3 pointer at the halfway mark to put the Wolves up 66:60. Vikings fightback to come within 2, 67:65. Wolves win 75:69.

The Player of the Game for Vikings was #2 Marco Parma.

The Player of the Game for the Wolves was #6 Bruce Beddoe.

The next set of Home Games for the Wolves is next weekend November 19th and 20th when they host the Concordia Thunder. Game times are 6pm and 1pm respectively. The Vikings on the other hand will host the NAIT Ooks on Friday, November 19th at 6:00 PM MT at Augustana Gym. They will then finish up the home-and-home series in Edmonton on November 20th, tip-off at 3:00 PM MT.
