Vikings fall to dominate Ooks

CAMROSE, AB - Getting handed their first loss of the season, the University of Alberta Vikings struggled against firing NAIT Ooks offence, losing 94-62, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The result, puts both teams in second place, tied with four points on the season, while Keyano College takes sole possession of first in the north division, having not yet dropped a game.

The Ooks saw all but one player put points on the board, led by Luka Korosec who had 16 points, four rebounds and one assist. Across the court, the Vikings also found offence from plenty of players, with just two being held off the score sheet and four players all leading with 11 points.

It was the opening frame that made a lot of difference on the night as the Ooks held the home side to just nine points while draining 22 of their own.

Recovering a little bit in the second quarter, the Vikings mustered up 24 points, just it would not be enough to close the gap, as the Ooks would add 27 to their tally, giving them a 49-33 lead heading into halftime.

The gap continued to grow in the second half, as the Ooks would go on to continue winning the minute battles, 26-18 and 19-11, taking the ultimate win, 94-62.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow night at NAIT, with tip-off set for 6PM MT.
