Vikings down defeating champions

CAMROSE, AB - Face a tough task, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings found the winning edge over the deafening ACAC Champions the SAIT Trojans, 101-93, Saturday night at Augustana Gym.

The win gets the Vikings back on the winning side after a two-point loss the night before, they now sit in fourth place in the north. Meanwhile, the Trojans have had a difficult run, now losing three straight to start the season with a 1-4 record.

However, the Trojans were not short of points with Marcus Master draining 30, Kuol Kuol adding 22 and Charlie Conner putting up 21, but it would not be enough to stop a combined points totals from Marc Parma and Nic Harder for the home side who put up 35 and 23 points, respectfully, for 58 points.

The opening frame proved to be the most important on the night with the Vikings draining 30 points compared to just nine for the Trojans. Parma had the magic touch with 11 points.

However, the Trojans would not go away silently, winning the individual quarter battles, but it would not be enough to make up for the difference created in the first as the Vikings came out victorious, 101-93.

Looking ahead, the Vikings will have a home-and-home series with the Lakeland Rustlers next weekend to close out the year before the holiday break, while SAIT will have a series against the Ambrose University Lions.
