Huskies hit triple digits in win over Vikings

CAMROSE, AB - Not missing a beat this season, the Keyano College Huskies eased their way to a 111-75 win over the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings, Saturday afternoon at Augustana Gym.

With the win, the Huskies improve to an impressive 16-0 on the season and safely remain in first place in the north and league. Meanwhile, the Vikings remain in fourth place in the north, four points back of the Lakeland College Rustlers.

Five Huskies had double-digits in scoring, including the game leader, Sean-Michael Clancey with 23 points. He also added nine assists and eight rebounds on the win.

Across the court, Tyler Weenink had 14 points and seven rebounds for the home side.

Creating plenty of distance front eh start, the Huskies outscored the Vikings 29-13 in the opening frame with Clancey draining 13 points. They would carry on to their highest scoring quarter with 36 points added on the second to lead 65-38 at the half.

Although the point differential lessened in the final two quarters, it was too much to come back from as the Huskies would go on to win 111-75.

Looking ahead, the Vikings will travel north to take on the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves next weekend for a two-game series on the road, while the Huskies will receive a bye weekend before travelling to Briercrest College and Medicine Hat on February 10th and 11th.
