Parma's performance helps earn Vikings their first win on the year

CAMROSE, AB - Getting in the win column for the first time this season, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings trump the Ambrose Lions 91-72, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The win may have given the Vikings their first win of the season, but they have a mighty hill to climb as they sit in sixth place in the north. Meanwhile, the Lions lose their fifth straight game after opening the season with a win over the Medicine Hat Rattlers and sit sixth in the south.

Leading the way to victory was guard Marc Parma who drained the ball for 31 points, while adding four rebounds and three assists. Teammate Brett Marlow added an additional 16 points in the win.

Across the court, the Lions found offence from Matthew Henry-Harrison with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Jumping out to a large start in the opening frame the Vikings led 24-13 through one, with Parma having his most successful quarter of the night with 12 points.

Seemingly the Lions looked to close the gap, drawing even with the Vikings at 24 points apiece in the third quarter, however, the first frame gap would be too much for the visitors as the Viking celebrated a win on home court.

Looking ahead, the Vikings will head on the road next weekend to take on the Lakeland Rustlers in one game on Friday, while the Lions will have a bye week before welcoming both the Keyano Kodiaks and Lakeland Rustlers the following weekend. Catch all the action on ACAC TV.
