Wolves hunt as pack to take down VIkings

CAMROSE, Alta. - In a for positioning in standings, the NWP Wolves took down the University of Alberta - Vikings 89-63, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The win creates a four-point gap between the two teams who are battling it out for fifth place in the north with just five spots available for playoffs.

Leading the court was Emmanuel Iloka with 28 points, eight rebounds and two assists for the visitors, while Marc Parma led the Vikings with 23 points and two rebounds.

Parma came out of the gate flying leading both teams in points for the opening quarter with nine points, but hunting as a pack, the Wolves got the advantage to lead 21-15 after the opening 10 minutes of play.

The Vikings would close the gap in front of their home-side crowd but would find themselves down 35-33. 

The halftime break did the host no favours as the Wolves outscored them 22-10 in the third quarter, before putting up an additional 32 points in the fourth as the Vikings ran out of gas to fall, 89-63.

Both teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon for game two of their weekend series at 3 PM. Catch all the action in person or on ACAC TV.
