Lighting take top spot in the south with win over Vikings

CAMROSE, Alta. - In a strong performance, the St. Mary's Lighting took down the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings 94-76, Saturday night at Augustana Gym.

The win secures first place in the south for the Lightening heading into the holiday break with a 9-1 record on the season, two points ahead of the RDP Kings, while the Vikings rocky start has them sitting four points out of the final playoff spot in the north with a 2-8 record.

lead by three multipoint shooters, Caleb Jipp drained 26 points, Brock Dewsbery added 27 to his stats along with 10 rebounds, while Pelumi Ajayi put an additional 21 points on the board.

Across the court, the Vikings starting line put up points including 17 from Marc Param and 15 from Jon Mueller.

Both teams will take a break from ACAC for the holiday break before returning in the New Year. The Lighting will play host to the Briercrest Clippers on January 12th and 13th, while the Vikings will return to the court on January 13th at Lakeland College.
