CAMROSE, Alta - The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team has found their stride at the exact right time of the year. The Vikings were able to win a thriller 74-73 at the Augustana gymnasium against the visiting Concordia Thunder.

In a battle of tug of war all night the Vikings and Thunder exchanged leads throughout each quarter in what was a physical and high emotion game in front of a great Augustana crowd. The Thunder came into the matchup with a record of  7-7 and looking to gain more ground in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference north division. Led in the game by Nick Gibb who managed to put up 20 points, the Thunder had a mere one point lead at half time.

Augustana spread out the offense throughout the evening with four seperate players each having 12 points. Augustana's Jack Smilski was one of the Vikings to have 12 points on the evening but topped off the night was an astonishing 17 rebounds. Despite a buzzer beater opportunity in the last seconds of the game by the Thunder, the Vikings managed to sneak away with the one point victory. The rematch goes tomorrow night at the Concordia Gymnasium with tip off at 8pm. The action can be found on ACACTV.
