History made with Hockey Victory vs Portage College

The Augustana Vikings took a 3-1 win over the Portage College Voyageurs on Saturday night at EnCana Arena in Camrose.

Viking Jarod Hovde put one on the scoreboard later in the first period assisted by Young and Tambasco. The second period remained scoreless. A shorthanded goal early in the third period, unassisted and shorthanded by Ryan Groom of the Vikings made the score 2-0. Late in the third period ordan Picard added the first goal for the Portage College Voyageurs, assisted by Colby Livingstone and Ryan Symington. McMullin of the Vikings added another with less than two minutes left in the game - making the final score 3-1. Vikings Goaltender Zach deGraves faced 16 shots for the game, with Portage Goaltender, Taryn Kotchonek  faced 24 on the other side of the ice. Players of the Game were Hovde for the Vikings and Picard for the Voyageurs.

Pride Tape is a proud partner with Camrose Pride Community, Augustana Queers and Allies (AQUA) and the Augustana Vikings to drive positive social change and foster more inclusive communities. A number of Vikings used the signature rainbow tape on their sticks during Saturday's ACAC regular season league game. Pride Tape is a made in Alberta initiative that was invented as a badge of support from teammates, coaches, parents and pros to show every player that they are welcome on the ice-that we're all on the same team. Buying Pride Tape helps support LGBTQ youth outreach initiatives, such as You Can Play. History was made at the game as Augustana Viking Jarod Hovde scored the first recorded goal with Pride Tape in any league, including the NHL. All pf Saturday's Vikings goal scorers had Pride Tape on their sticks.
