Vikings beat the buzzer to win

CAMROSE, AB - Tying the game with one second left in regulation, the University of Alberta - Vikings take a 4-3 overtime win against the NAIT Ooks, Friday night at EnCana Arena.

The winning jump the Vikings over the SAIT Trojans for second place in the standings and two far out of reach to be caught, giving them a bye past round one of playoffs. Meanwhile, the Ooks currently sit in fourth place and would take on the Briercrest Clippers in round one should the standings remain.

Four different players found the back of the net for the Vikings including Conrad Phillips with the game-winner in overtime and Jake Gudjonson with the game-tying tally. Ben Stollery and Jack Hamly also scored, while Daniel Moody had 26 saves in the win.

Across the ice, Bryce Osepchuk, Keaton Holinaty, and Eric Lacombe all netted one, while Taryn Kothorek had 23 saves on the night.

After falling behind 3-2 midway through the third period, Gudjonson last second effort literally sent the Vikings and Ooks to overtime with just one second on the clock. Camrose's own Phillips managed to score the fourth and final goal for the Vikings in their last regular season home game.

The Vikings will travel to Edmonton to cap off their regular season tomorrow night at 6pm.
