Ooks take 1-0 series lead

CAMROSE, AB - Following a 2-1 opening series win last weekend, the NAIT Ooks defeated the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings 4-2 in the opening game of round two, Friday night at Encana Arena. The win gives the Ooks an early 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three matchup.

For the Vikings, Gerrik Ripley and Jack Hamly both found the back of the net for their side, while Daniel Moody made 25 saves on 28 shots in the loss.

Across the ice, the Ooks offence came from Brandon Lawson, Cale Lyons, and two from Eric Lacombe. Backstopping his team to the win was Ryley Osland with 30 saves.

Opening the scoring midway through the first period was Ripley, before Hamly would increase the Viking's lead to two nearly 30 minutes later. 

Heading into the third period with the worst lead in hockey, two goals, the Vikings visitors would score four unanswered in the final frame to come back and win, 4-2.

Next up, both teams will meet again in game two Saturday night at NAIT starting a 6pm MST.
