CAMROSE, Alta. - Breaking an 11-game losing streak, the Portage Voyageurs took down the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings 2-1 in overtime, Saturday night at Augustana Arena.

The win not only breaks a losing streak that extends into last season, but it also secures the Voyageurs' first win of the season. Meanwhile, the Vikings continue their win-one-lose-one on the season to sit in the middle of the standings with a 7-3-2 record.

Getting the two goals for the victors was Shaye Sommerfeld and Logan Carruthers, while Alex Brousseau had 40 saves.

Across the ice, Jacob Biensch netted the Vikings lone goal, while Rett Rook had 22 saves on the night.

finding themselves even after 60 minutes of play, the two teams went into 10 minutes of sudden death overtime. Carruthers was able to break free down the wind before driving towards the net and past Rook's shoulder for the unassisted goal and win.

Both teams will take a break for exams and the holidays before resuming play in the New Year.
