CAMROSE, Alta. - The Augustana Vikings men's hockey team welcome the Korea University Tigers this afternoon to the Encana Arena as part of the Tigers, Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference series. On a late goal by Vikings defenseman Daniel Stollery, the Vikings were able to escape the game with a 3-2 victory.

Augustana was able to open the scoring on a beautiful individual effort from Camrose local Conrad Philips, much to the delight of the 800 fans who made way to the rink for the matinee game. Korea University was able to answer before the end of the period on a goal from Hyung Suk Lee with 5:41 remaining in the first. The period would end with the teams tied 1-1 and Korea leading in shots 9-8.

Augustana would open the second period scoring on a fortunate bounce from a dump in which would be put home by Tanner Manz. Again, Korea University would tie up the game before the end of the period on a goal by Won Hyeong Choi on the powerplay assisted by Hyeon Su Kwon and Moo Young Lee. The teams would end the second period deadlocked at two goals a piece.

With the game even and looking very likely to go into overtime, Vikings defensemen Daniel Stollery would send a knuckleball on net that found the mesh with only 1:35 left in the game that would prove to be the game winner.

The Vikings will now travel to Saskatchewan for two games this weekend against the Briercrest Clippers starting at 6PM Friday evening, meanwhile the Korea University Tigers will have to wait until Wednesday, January 31st for their chance to take on the Clippers with puck drop again at 6PM.
