CAMROSE, Alta. - The Augustana Vikings men's hockey team regained home ice advantage after a 5-2 victory on Saturday night at the Encana Arena. After losing the previous night in Calgary with one tenth of a second remaining, the Vikings bounced back in a big way in front of their home town crowd.

The game started eerily similar to game one with both teams getting on the scoreboard early on in the game. Just 45 seconds into the game, Vikings veteran forward Jack Hamly potted the first of the night putting the Vikings up 1-0 early. Just 40 seconds later, Cory King responded for the Sait Trojans tying the game with each team scoring in the first minute and twenty five seconds. The Vikings would add two more goals from Jake Gudjonson and Jase Smalcel to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

The goaltenders would shine in the 2nd period of play with Andrew Maclean and Daniel Moody make great saves for both teams. Moody especially in the 2nd period made two point blank saves that could have changed the complete momentum of the game. With Moody standing tall the Vikings were able to add one more from Jaxon Georget for a 4-1 lead after two periods.

The Trojans would add a goal late in the 3rd period from Dylan Clark but once again the Vikings had an answer with Conrad Philips scoring an empty netter to end the game 5-2 for the Vikings. The third and deciding game of the series goes tomorrow at 3pm in Camrose at the Encana Arena, the action can always be found on ACACTV or Telus Optik.
