For coach Stephen Leggitt, the first half of the season has been a struggle for his team. With a record of 4-10 heading into the Christmas break, Leggitt feels his team could dig a little deeper and have some better results on the court. 

Part of the struggle is the number of rookies that Leggitt has on the team this year. After two seasons of parting ways with strong, talented veterans as they graduated, the number of rookies on the team - and on the floor at any given time - is more than the team has had in several seasons. With up to four rookies on the floor at any given time, the inexperience has been a factor in the team's results this first half of the season. 

He also noted that he thinks that the team hasn't been able to find the consistency that is needed to win day in and day out and the team just has not been able to make the adjustments on the court the way they have needed to. Although the second half of the season is going to be tough, Leggitt believes the team could come out with anywhere from six to eight wins if the team is willing to work hard and have patience. 

Rookie libero Thomas Zimmerman has shone this first half for Leggitt. The first year has solidified well in his position and has helped provide stability on serve receive and has been making timely digs on defence. The big two middles, Lyndon Varga and Duncan McDonald, have established by far the best 1-2 punch in the North Division. They are both having outstanding seasons and the team will need them if they are going to make a push for the play-offs in the second half.
