Vikings swept by Thunder in season opening series

CAMROSE, AB - taking little time to close out the game, Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder eased to a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-10), Saturday night at Augustana Gym.

The win came less than 24 hours after a gruelling five-set match between the two teams only for the Thunder to come back with a convincing win tonight.

The win brings the Thunders season record 2-0, tying them with the Lakeland Collge Rustlers for first in the division.

In a competitive first set, it was the Thunder who gain the momentum to take a solid first set, 25-20.

However, the Vikings would not drift away that easy as they fought back and forth throughout the set, with the Thunder hanging on to what little momentum they had left allowing them to take a two-set lead in extra points.

It was all Thunder in the third and ultimately final frame, as they racked up the points to glide to a 25-10 set win for the match.

Looking ahead, the Thunder will head north to Northwestern Polytechnic for a two-game series next weekend, while the Vikings will play host to The King's Univerity Eagles on Friday night at 8 PM MT in the first game of a home-and-home series.
