Vikings remain winless this season

CAMROSE, AB - Not getting the season start they would like, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings dropped their third straight match of the season, falling 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19) to The King's University, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The win put the Eagles in a four-way tie for first in the north with Lakeland College, NAIT, and the Concordia University of Edmonton.

Battling hard through the first two sets the Vikings just couldn't find the last gear to overcome their visitors as they go down 2-0 early, losing their sets 25-21 and 25-22, respectively.

Hoping to stay in it, the home side was firing pushing past the obstacles that had hindered them in the first two sets, winning 25-19.

Burning the tank in the third, the Vikings were running on empty, ultimately losing the fourth set, 25-19 and the match, 3-1.

Nothing having much time to dwell, the Vikings will hit the road Saturday as they head to the Eagles for game two of this home-and-home series starting at 8 PM.
