Vikings bad luck streak continues with loss to Wolves

CAMROSE, AB - Returning home for the first time in the New Year, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings' bad luck remains the same as they fall to the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 27-25), Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The win allows the Wolves to jump the Lakeland College Rustlers in the standings to fourth in the north, which if the standing remains the same would guarantee a home-court advantage in the ACAC Championship play-in game.

On the other hand, the Vikings' losing streak extends to 16 games as the team is yet to win this season.

The Vikings were led by Jonah Vander Leek who had six kills, four digs and one ace, Calder Thompson with 28 assists and three aces, and Bryce Boan with 12 digs.

Across the net, the Wolves found success from Josh Dumont with seven kills and five digs,  while lane Matthews had 23 assists.

What seemed like an even match, the errors caused the most trouble for the Vikings with 11 on the night compared to just four for the victorious Wolves.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm for game two of the weekend series.
