Huskies sweep Vikings in sets and games during weekend series

CAMROSE, AB - Not getting the result they would hope for in front of their home crowd, the University of Alberta - Vikings get swept in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-20) by the Keyano Huskies, Saturday afternoon at Augustana Gym.

The win keeps the Huskies at the top of the table in the north division with a perfect record through the first two weekends of conference play. Meanwhile, the Vikings will have to continue their hunt for their first win of the season and break their current losing streak dating back to the 2022-23 season.

Rafael Parada led the team for the second straight night in kills with 12 and added four digs and a single ace. Across the court, the Vikings found offence from the game leader in kills, Devon Nazarchuk with 13 while also adding two kills to the scoresheet.

Putting up a fight throughout the three-set game, the Vikings were hoping to not fall for the second straight day to their guests. However, luck would not be on their side even with them inching close, Parada found his stride in the third putting down six kills in the final set to put the game to bed.

After an extended break, the Vikings will head south to play the Lethbridge Kodiaks on November 4th, while the Huskies host the Concordia Thunder for two games next weekend.
