Clippers take four set victory over Vikings

CAMROSE, Alta. - Needing four sets, the Briercrest Clippers claimed a 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 23-25, 25-15) win over the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings, Friday Night at Augustana Gym.

The win improves the Clippers record to 8-1, extending their win streak to eight games, while the Vikings remain on the opposite end with a 0-7 record to start the season.

With a dominating .488 kill percentage, Karym Coleman led everyone on the court with 23 kills with help from Jeremy Martens 36 assists. Across the court, Devon Nazarchuk had 11 kills as Caelum Hartman put up 29 assists.

It was all the Clippers in the opening frame with 11 successful kills on just 17 attacks to ease to a 25-15 set win. However, putting up a fight the home side pushed the south second-best team to extra points in the second set, but it would not be enough as the Vikings would find themselves down 2-1.

Pushing to remain the the game, the red, black and white made no mistakes on their 17 attacks to steal the third set 25-23, forcing a fourth before errors gave the momentum back to their guests. Six errors in the fourth frame would help the Clippers on their way to a 25-15 set win and game.

Looking ahead, the Vikings will host the Medicine Hat Rattlers on Saturday night, while the Clippers will have an extended break before taking to the court again in ACAC action in the New Year.
