CAMROSE, Alta.- The University of Alberta- Augustana Vikings hosted the NAIT Ooks at Augustana gym on Friday night where Ooks defeated the home team 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 15-25, 25-19).

With an early lead in the set, Ooks controlled the court winning the first set 25-12. Determined and hungry, the Vikings continued to put pressure on the visiting team in the following sets. With high energy and team efforts, Vikings almost spurred a comeback in the second set however big kills from #9 Ross Bishop put them ahead to win 25-19. 

Shutting down Ooks offensive attacks, Vikings came out strong and were quick to take the lead in the third set, forcing NAIT to take their first timeout of the game. With some fantastic kills from #10 Boris Kuljanin, the night was not over as Vikings took the third set 25-15. Energy carried into the fourth set as both teams traded point for point. The Vikings continued to put up a fight but it wasn't enough as NAIT took the set 25-19.  

Leading the team this season, Bishop had 10 kills while #5 Wyatt Turnbull also had 10 kills. On the other side of the court, Kuljanin and #1 Robbie Taylor both had 9 kills. 

Augustana travels to NAIT Saturday night at 8pm as they look to win their first game of the season.
