Vikings make big first impression in win over Rattlers

CAMROSE, AB - Building off a big first quarter, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings defeat the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 79-35, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The win secures a valuable two points for the Vikings as they lock down second place in the north division to advance straight to the ACAC Championship in Lethbridge from March 2-4, 2023. 

Meanwhile, the Rattler will finish their season and will look to regroup for the 2023-24 season.

Leading the Rattlers were four players all with six points including Alia Boulanger, Brynn Bremner, Jordyn Knight, and Grace Kitenge.

The Vikings veteran Tayah Fiveland lead her side with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists, while teammate Maren Macdonald added 10 points and three rebounds.

Coming out the gate early, the Vikings took a 27-8 lead after the first quarter only to continue to build as the game went on.

The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow night for their final regular season game against the Briercrest Clippers at 6pm. They will also celebrate their four graduating student-athletes.
