Augustana continues winning was with King's Eagles in town

CAMROSE, Alta.- The University of Alberta- Augustana Vikings hosted nationally ranked King's University Eagles Friday night, in an exciting matchup as Vikings are pushing to secure the final playoff spot in the north.

Coming off a bye week, fully rested Eagles had difficulty finding their footing in the first half as the Vikings offense and defense controlled the court. The home crowd energy was an advantage for Vikings as they found their rhythm early on, putting up 32 points in the first quarter. With a 16 point lead in the second quarter, they maintained control finishing off the half with a lead of 53-36.

Demonstrating why they are in second place in the north, King's carried the momentum in the second half. Shutting down the Vikings offense, Eagles were able to close the gap on the scoreboard as they fought relentlessly to try and take the lead. Despite their dominance in the third, the Vikings collective team effort exceeded the Eagles in the end as Augustana secured the win with a score of 83-77.

A notable team performance by Augustana as #3 Mallory Ogilvie had 19 points and 4 assists, #4 Tayah Fiveland put up 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, #14 Mackenzie Mrazik contributed 19 points and 3 rebounds. Coming off the bench # 22 Alyssa Banez had 15 points and 3 assists. Leading the scoring on the Eagles team #15 Jordan Rivet with 19 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds and #19 Aneilia Ayotte added 16 points and 4 rebounds.

The exciting match up continues as both teams head back to King's University tomorrow as Eagles host the rematch starting at 6pm.
