After four years in the ACAC, the Augustana Vikings women's soccer team had a player make the North Division All-Conference team at the end of the season. Tara Berger - Vikings captain, top scorer, and relentless player - was the player to receive the honour in her last year with the Vikings. Coach Paul Stone - who convinced Berger that coming to a brand new program was a great idea - had a few words to say about his All-Star player:

"It took some convincing for Tara to come to Augustana and be a Viking. If you ask her now, she doesn't regret her decision to bring her skills and leadership to a new soccer
program.
Tara was just coming off knee surgery in her first season with us, and from the early days you could see the talent. She has scored the majority of our goals over the past three
seasons and was probably involved in the rest of them. This past season, Tara finished second in league scoring, with nine goals in 10 games.
After getting a few wins under our belts and showing what we could do, the team was finally able to recruit some other offensive threats. This created a lot more space for Tara in the attacking third, and she took fool advantage. Three of her goals came from free kicks outside the penalty area. She was an offensive weapon for sure that created scoring opportunities.
Last winter at the ACAC Futsal Championships in Ambrose, Tara received an All-Star award with her performance in helping capture Augustana a silver medal. Finally this outdoor season, Tara was again rewarded for her work and was voted by opposing coaches into the ACAC All-Star team.
Tara's production and sacrifice for the team on the field will be missed. She will leavebehind a legacy and knowledge to our younger players who will try and fill her shoes. Tara leaves us with a Bachelor of Kineisiology and some great memories of playing for the Vikings women's woccer program. If you compare Tara from the first year to now,
she has grown as a person, a leader and as a role model for the "Beautiful Game." Never giving up, and playing to win every time she took the field.
The coaching staff would like to thank Tara for her contributions to the team. You've set the bar for us and helped put Augustana soccer on the map."
