Meet Kati Gouthro: Vikings Women's Soccer

What position do you play? I play along the defensive line and sometimes on the left or right wings of midfield.
How long have you played soccer ? I've been playing soccer since I was about 5-6 years old.
What are your personal goals as an athlete for this upcoming soccer season? As I am entering this season fresh from having surgery done on my knee, my goal is to work hard on my rehabilitation and hopefully be able to do basic training near the end of the season.
What academic program are you taking and why? I am taking my Bachelor of Arts, taking classes to become an Elementary School teacher. I've always loved working with kids and watching them learn from what I'm able to teach them.
Who is someone that inspired you to play? Both my parents always supported me when wanting to play soccer from a very young age, they've always pushed me to do my best, they still continue to inspire me every day to play my best.

I'm from Fort McMurray, Alberta and I attended Westwood Community High school. I've been very involved with soccer in my community being a coach for young soccer players. I love hiking and camping in the mountains. During the winter I normally coach youth how to downhill ski race, but love spending time inside on a cold day watching Harry Potter with my family. My parents are Mike and Kathi Gouthro, and I have two younger siblings; Danielle and Joey, as well as 5 older siblings; Sean, Ryan, Mellie, Kourtney and Chrissy.

Cheer on Kati and her teammates starting on Saturday, September 8 at the Augustana Campus Field.
