Meet Cari Kilmartin: Vikings Women's Soccer

Meet Cari Kilmartin: Vikings Women's Soccer

What position do you play? I am a defender, but this season I've been dabbling in goalkeeping which has been a fun challenge.

How long have you played soccer? It was the first sport I ever played, and I think I started around 4.

What are your personal goals as an athlete for this upcoming soccer season? My personal goals for this season are to be comfortable and confident in whatever position I'm playing, whether it be in goal or out playing defence. I want to work on my field awareness and be a reliable teammate.

What academic program are you taking and why? I'm in my second year, taking a Bachelor of Arts with a History major. My dad passed on a love and interest of history, so he played a big role in determining my major.

Who is someone that inspired you to play? I've always had a natural love for the game, but the fact that my dad and older brother John play has always kept me interested and playing, even when life got really busy.

Cari Kilmartin is from Beausejour, Manitoba, and attended high school in Leduc, Alberta. She is in her second year playing with the Vikings, playing primarily as defense. She is a History major, and has her fingers crossed that she will find inspiration for a career path in her upcoming years at Augustana. As a returning player, she hopes that with hard work and determination, the team will make playoffs and have a consistently strong and steady season.
When Cari is not on the field, you will probably find her in the gym or taking a nap. Her favourite book is Seven Daughters and Seven Sons, and her favourite movie is constantly changing because she is indecisive. Her favourite food is chicken fingers because they are reliable.
Cari is proud to be the daughter of Jeff and Sonya, and is the sister of Robert, John and Daniel.
