Vikings even their season record with lose to Kodiaks at home

Camrose, AB - The Lethbridge College Kodiaks stuck twice in the second half to take the 2-0 victory of the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings, Saturday afternoon at Augustana Field.

The win moves the Kodiaks firmly into second place in the south with a 3-1-1 record. Their only loss came from the division leaders, SAIT Trojans. Meanwhile, the Vikings even their season record at 2-2-0 and sit fifth in the division.

Olivia DePasquale lead the scoring with a goal and an assist, while Taylor Hrycun added the insurance goal and Jayna Timinski tallied an assist.

It was all Kodiaks in the first half, putting four shots on target, but the Viking's last line of defence held strong making all four stops before adding another three saves by the end of the match.

The half-time dressing room chat was just what the visitors needed to break the goose egg on the board, as Depasquale's shot found the back of the net at the 46th minute mark.

The home side pushed back looking for the draw-even goal, getting two scoring chances, but the Kodiaks would add an insurance goal in the 82nd minute to close the game and take the 2-0 win.

Tomorrow the Vikings will have the opportunity to bounce back from the loss as they host the Medicine Hat College Rattlers at 1 PM on Augustana Feild, while the Kodiaks will get a rest day before visiting the Rattlers next Friday night.
