WVB: Boyes selected as ACAC Rookie of the Year

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Shae Boyes of the University of Alberta/Augustana Vikings has been selected as the 2018-19 ACAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Year.

In 19 matches Shae has accumulated 167 kills, with an average of 2.46 kills per set, 26 service aces, 149 digs, 11 blocks and numerous Player of the Game awards.

"Shae has been an indispensable part of team success this year. She has enhanced our offence, helped solidify our defense and made our service offence more effective," commented Vikings Head Coach and Director of Athletics, Greg Ryan.

Shae is from Rimbey, AB and is in her first year with the Vikings, playing primarily as a left side. She is enrolled in Bachelor of Arts major in Physical Education (Kinesiology and Sport Studies) and one day hopes to become a Rehabilitation Therapist. Shae is cheered on by supportive parents, Rick and Karen Boyes of Rimbey, and sister Tory.

This prestigious award was presented to Shae Boyes at the 2019 ACAC Women's Volleyball Championship Ceremony held on February 20, 2019 at Ambrose University in Calgary.
