Vikings have the winning touch

CAMROSE, AB - Getting back to winning, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings defeat the Olds College Broncos 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-16), Friday night at Augustana Gym.

With the win, the Vikings not only get back in the win column but also slide into third place in the north division, tied with Keyano College. Meanwhile, the Broncos winning woes continue as they drop their seventh match to start the season winless, having only one won set.

Leading the charge was Sarah Dedrick with 26 assists and two aces, while both Macy Mcdonald and Addison Wolosuk lead the team with eight kills each. Across the court, Sarah Merkosky, Julia Pedersen, Milan Schapowal, and Tabitha Martin all lead their season with four kills each.

It was all smooth sailing for the home side, as the Vikings jumped out to a quick lead doubling their guest's score and ultimately taking the first set 25-12.

The story would be written the same in the second set, with the Vikings making quick work to go up 2-0 with a 25-12 set win.

With some push back the Broncos fought to stay alive, but the home side's serve would prove to be too much as they served over 90% on the night to a 3-0 victory, winning the third and final set 25-16.

Looking ahead the Vikings will travel south to Calgary to take on the SAIT Trojans, while the Broncos will take on the Medicine Hat College Rattlers in a two-game series at home next weekend to close out the semester.
