Vikings down Wolves in three sets

CAMROSE, AB - Meeting for the first time this season, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings defeat the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-15), Friday Night at Augustana Gym.

With just three games remaining this season, the win inches the Vikings two points closer to the Keyano College Huskies for third place in the north, while creating a four-point gap ahead of the Concordia Thunder.

Meanwhile, the Wolves remain outside of playoff contention with a 2-15 record on the season.

Leading the team in the win was Shae Boyes with 12 kills and five digs, while setter Sarah Dedrick has one kill, 23 assists and four digs. On the other side of the net, Wolves setter Aidan Armitage had 15 assists, while outside hitter Katie Nashim had 10 kills.

Seemingly even in stats, the downside to the visitors Friday night was in errors with 15 through three sets, while the Vikings held themselves to just five, before finding success in kills in the final set with 12 compared to the Wolves' eight.

Both teams will go again tomorrow afternoon at Augustana Gym for game two of the weekend series at 1 pm. Catch all the action on ACAC tv.
