Vikings take quick 3-0 win over Huskies

CAMROSE, AB - Make quick work of their guest, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings take a quick 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-20) win over the Keyano Huskies, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

The win improves the Viking's record to 3-0 on the season, having yet to drop a single set to their opponent. Meanwhile, the Huskies continue to the hunt for their first win of the season.

Last season's, ACAC All-Conference and CCAA Tournament All-Star Shae Boyes kept to her normal self with 12 kills and two aces on the night, while teammate Kari White Led in assists with 17. 

Across the court, Megan Polant and Karlene Kaminski both had six kills, while Erika Box had 10 assists.

Needing limited minutes in the first set, the Vikings jumped out to a confidence-boosting 9-0 lead before their guests could get on the board, increasing their lead to as large as 15-3, before completing the set 25-13.

Exchanging points in the second set, the Huskies found the first sizable lead of the second frame, 13-8. However, the home side found their game coming back 17-16 and pushing to a 25-23 set win.

Looking to make things exciting, both teams kept the crowd guessing exchanging victories for each rally, 8-8. Both teams would then exchange leads before the crowd-backed Vikings burst out to a 24-18 lead. Boyes' look down the middle would be the final kill to the Huskies, 25-20.

Both teams will face off again tomorrow at 1:00 pm MT at Augustana Gym for a rematch and final regular season meeting between the two. Catch all the action on ACAC TV.
