Viking attack take down Rattlers in three sets

CAMROSE, Alta. - Making no mistake, the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings made quick work of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, winning 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-11), Saturday night at Augustana Gym.

The win marks a perfect 2-0 weekend for the Vikings, who sit firmly in third place in the north with just two games remaining before the winter break, while the Rattlers have now lost seven straight and will continue to look for their first win of the season.

Shae Boyes' powerful year continues as she added another 13 kills to her season tally, making just a single error, while adding six aces. Kari White was helpful in the win with 34 assists.

Across the net, the Rattlers had five kills from both Anica Haberstock and Malea Kletzel.

The Vikings took advantage of their freeballs to put up 35 attacks in the opening set on their way to taking it, 25-18.

The second frame look little to no different, however, the home side cleaned up their own attacking errors with zero on the set to win, 25-19.

Wanting their night to end, the Vikings made quick work of the third and final set to take it 25-11 along with the win.

Next, the Vikings will take on the Lakeland Rustlers on the road on Saturday, while the Rattlers will host the Olds College Broncos for a two-game series before the winter break.
