Tayla Koerber
Year: 3

Tayla Koerber is a 3rd year Kinesiology major from Revelstoke, BC. She plans to go into chiropractic medicine after university. Her goals include participating in National Championships for the present and “all the way up as high as I can go in the future.” Her biggest influence as n athlete is Chandra Crawford, whose Olympic medal wins when Tayla was young became a huge source of female empowerment. Tayla’s mom is her biggest supporter and had the largest personal influence on her through her early career. Tayla has “been competing in races since [she] could shuffle along on skis, so about 15 years.” This year, she plans on competing in both the cross country running nationals in Quebec and cross country ski nationals in Ontario. One of her most memorable sports moments was a practice in -30C weather. “Our coach wanted to do a time trail for an upcoming race and we were standing on the start line jumping around in our spandex suits.” Tayla spends her summers raft guiding rivers in BC and dreaming about her plans for a school bus conversion so that she can travel down the west coast right into South America.
