Year: 3

I am taking GDS with a minor in English with the hope that that degree will allow me to go out into the world with a broad understanding of the challenges facing our generation and the skills to make a difference. I grew up as a dog musher on my family's homestead in the NWT and did not ski until my first year at Augustana. Similarly, my first running race was the 2013 Victoria Half Marathon, but I did not start running seriously until I joined the Vikings in 2014. Injuries have cut my running season short the past two years, but I am hopeful that pattern will end in 2016-2017! I don't think I could stay at Augustana without being a Viking -- being on the trails with the team keeps me sane and happy.  When I am not skiing and running, I love laughing with friends, reading Harry Potter, playing guitar, working with dogs and horses, and doing anything outdoors, especially gardening, campfires, and stargazing. My favourite food is my mom's fresh sourdough bread, just out of the oven, slathered with butter. I am thankful to my family for their love and support and to my sister Liv and friend Emily for making me push my limits. I also have depended on the steady support from the Augustana X-C team, especially coach Tim Wintoniw, along my bumpy road to being able to call myself an Augustana Viking.
