Running Room Grand Prix #1 Marks the Start of the XC Season

EDMONTON, AB - Blue skies and 22-degree weather set the stage for the Running Room Grand Prix #1, at the beautiful Gold Bar Park. The ACAC athletes were eager to tie up their laces and get to their marks to start the 2023 XC Season.

The women's teams kicked off the event with a 6 km race through various terrain in the river valley. Becky Ross (MHC) came in first place with an outstanding time of 24:44. Not far behind was her teammate Maddy Scrimger (MHC), crossing the finish line at 25:29. In third place, the lightning-quick Cadence Laplante (STMU) finished at 26:02.

The men's 8 km race began at 1 PM with a total of 49 runners. The Trojans kicked off their XC season earning the first two places. Keiran Marchand (SAIT) with an impressive time of 28:09 and right behind him teammate Nathan Woyessa (SAIT) at 28:24. The Eagles land the third place position with Josh Kujat (TKU) crossing the line at 29:11.

The next race takes place September 16th at the West Confederation Park in Calgary AB. The SAIT Trojans are set to host the Jordan Fish Cross Country Open (Grand Prix #2) in honour of their late teammate.
