Lethbridge, AB – The weather elements put the future championship course to the test as Lethbridge College hosted the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Running Room Grand Prix #3 at Nicholas Sheran Park on the weekend. Even with a temperature of eight degrees mixed with wind and rain, it didn't keep the runner's spirits down.

Women's Race

The event started with a moment of silence in honour of National Truth and Reconciliation Day, followed by the women's race at 11:30 a.m. with a six-kilometre run. Crossing the finish line first was Becky Ross (MHC) with a time of 24:16, followed by Cadence Laplante (STMU) coming in at a time of 24:40, and Maddy Scirmger (MHC) in 3rd place at 24:55. The final team placements for the women was the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens in the 1st, Medicine Hat College Rattlers in 2nd and Lethbridge College Kodiaks in 3rd.

Men's Race

The men followed at 12:30 running an 8 km race. The Trojans led the pack throughout the race, taking all the top three spots. Maximus Thiessen (SAIT) finished first with a time of 26:50, followed by teammate Nathan Woyessa (SAIT) at 27:03, and Keiran Marchand (SAIT) coming in at 27:33. The final team placements for the men was SAIT Trojans in 1st, Red Deer Polytechnic Kings in 2nd and Lethbridge College Kodiaks in 3rd.

The next race is on Oct. 14 in Camrose (Running Room Grand Prix #4) and will be hosted by the U of A – Augustana. This will be the last regular season competition before the ACAC championships hosted by Lethbridge College on Oct. 28.
