Fitzgerald and Chesoo continue to dominate the field at the seasons final Running Room Grand Prix

CAMROSE, AB - The Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) converged on Camrose over the weekend as the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings hosted the Running Room Grand Prix #4 on Saturday afternoon at the Stoney Creek Centre.

Known as one of the best running courses in Alberta, the women kicked the day off with a 6km loop, while the men followed shortly after for an 8km loop for the fourth and final grand prix of the season. 

Flying out ahead was SAIT Trojan Makenna Fitzgerald with a sizable lead early, one of which she would not wavier, proving why she has been crowned the best of the best in the Canadian Colleges Athletics Association (CCAA) the past two consecutive years and crossing the line with a time of 22:39. Becky Ross (24:51) from the Medicine Hat Rattlers crossed the line in second, with St. Mary's Lightening runner Cadence Laplante (25:14) coming in thrid place.

Similar to his female counterpart, Concordia Thunder's Leonard Chesoo took an early lead on his competitors before crossing the finish line in first with a time of 26:24. Trojan Nathan Woyessa was seconds behind with a time of 26:33 followed up by teammate Keiran Marchand (27:56) in third.

Up next, teams will head south to Alberta's windy city when the Lethbridge Kodiaks host the 2023 ACAC Championship on October 28th.
