Hockey Vikings start off Conference play strong

The Augustana Vikings kicked off their 2018-2019 season tonight in Concordia against the Thunder. After ending the preseason with two losses in Lacombe, the Vikings look to start off regulation play strong.

After one, the Vikings led 1-0 with a goal from Tambasco to open the scoring. The play went back and forth with both teams getting chances at both ends. The second period saw the Thunder score early, but the Vikings responded quick with a goal of
their own. The Vikings began to dominate the play and took a commanding 5-1 lead heading into the third.

At the end of the third, Concordia tried to battle back, but to no avail as the Vikings take the game 6-2. Augustana saw goals from Tambasco, Mayan, Warmington, a shorthanded goal from Osczevski, and two goals from Lovsin. Skip had a stellar performance in net and was awarded Vikings Player of the Game.

Augustana will take on the Concordia Thunder on Saturday, October 6 at 6pm in the Max Mclean Arena for the Home Opener.
